Question/Problem Question/Problem
Why can't I send email? I get an error that says "550 5.7.1... we do not relay"
Answer/Resolution Answer/Resolution

SMTP Authentication is not enabled.

Overview:

All of our servers require SMTP authentication when sending email.  If SMTP authentication is not enabled, you will be able to send email to yourself and to other addresses hosted on the same server, but when sending mail to other addresses you will see one of these errors:

550 5.7.1 ... we do not relay

550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for recipient@example.com

Solution:

To solve this problem, enable SMTP authentication in your email client.
